Last week, in the Hard2Guard Player Development Newsletter, I wrote that the floater is one shot which separates the elite guards from the average guards. The floater is a difficult shot to teach because it depends heavily on a player’s feel.
Tony Parker is a player with a great floater which he exhibits several times in this video from a game against Phoenix.
- At :35, he shoots a floater from the right side off two feet.
- At :56, he shoots more of a runner (a floater is shot over an on-coming defender, while a runner is shot while moving away from a trailing defender) off of one foot from the free throw line to end the quarter.
- At 1:12, he shoots a floater off two feet from the right block.
